About Canterbury Woods Country Club: History

Canterbury Woods Country Club is on 260 acres of land formerly part of the Glines Farm on West Road in Canterbury, NH. The Glines family settled in Canterbury in the 1730's and purchased this farm in 1853. It remains the only active dairy farm in Canterbury, NH.

In 1996 George and Sue Glines began to consider alternatives to their occupations at that time. Sue had been a medical technologist at a hospital in Boston and was growing tired of the commute. George either needed to expand his herd size to keep up with the changing dairy economy or diversify his farming operations. After much consideration and discussions with people in the golf business, the Glines decided that a golf course would be built on land behind the farm.

This land was largely unsuited for farming but had fabulous, expansive views of Mount Kearsarge, Ragged Mountain and the Merrimack River Valley. The course location will enable the entire family to work together, and allow George to maintain a scaled down dairy farm as well. George and Sue, their children Kate, Peter, and Eric, and the entire staff at CWCC invite everyone to come and enjoy our championship golf course and New Hampshire hospitality.
