Once the eighteen
best corridors were selected and a routing was completed,
we then focused on the golfing strategies of each individual
hole. The strategic elements of the holes were based primarily
on the subtleties of the native landform. The greens, bunkers
and tees were situated to enhance the strategic value of the
natural contours; and, due to the great variety of features
inherent to the site, we were able to provide players with
an exciting array of shot-making opportunities.
As this is a public facility, the course was designed to
be challenging and enjoyable for golfers of all abilities.
This was achieved through the use of multiple tees which allow
the course to play anywhere from 6,600 to 4,800 yards long.
By varying the playing angles and strategically locating hazards,
we have ensured that the demand on golfers will decrease as
they move forward on the tees. Thus, golfers can select the
level of difficulty best suited to their individual games.
In addition to the golf course, we have also created a 300-yard
practice range. The half-acre bentgrass tee can accommodate
thirty golfers at one time, and four target greens offer realistic
practice opportunities.
We are very pleased with what has been accomplished at Canterbury
Woods, and are thankful to have been a part of the development
team. We invite the golfers of New Hampshire to come experience
this wonderful new facility.
